Biographical Note for Highway Trailer Company :

Company History:

Highway Trailer Company was based in Edgerton, Wisconsin. In 1929, it touted its Edgerton plant as being the world’s largest trailer factory, and it operated a truck body and equipment plant in Stoughton, Wisconsin. One piece in the collection is published over the name of the Highway Steel Body Company.

According to the Highway Trailer Sales site at http://www.highwaytrailer.com/about/history.html, Highway Trailer Company – with no prior history given – was operating in Kansas City, Missouri as early as 1940, and it became Trailer Services, Inc., and concentrated on trailer maintenance and rebuilding; but records at the American Truck Historical Society for the Wisconsin firm dated 1959 indicate there is no connection between the two.

The Wisconsin firm ceased operations by October, 2009, and nothing else is known of its history.
