Historical Note: Erie Steel Construction Company, which was based in Erie, Pennsylvania, was founded in 1912 by G. H. Strayer as a steel fabrication and erection concern. It expanded into the manufacture of clamshell buckets, dry batch plants and related equipment. It developed the Aggremeter volumetric aggregate and cement batch bin in 1927. Erie Steel became Erie Strayer Company after 1947, and as of Jun 2009, it was still operating in Erie, and was still owned by the Strayer family.
