Moore Speedcrane Company | Historical Construction Equipment Association

Name: Moore Speedcrane Company
Variant Name: Moore Brothers Company

Historical Note: Roy Moore and Charles Moore founded the Moore Speedcrane Company in Chicago, Illinois, to manufacture a steam-powered traction wheel crane. The Speedcrane utilized a patented sliding pinion gear shift, and was initially manufactured in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Moore Speedcrane assigned its patents and all manufacturing rights to Manitowoc Shipbuilding Company of Manitowoc, Wisconsin, in 1925. Gas power and a crawler base soon followed, and the crane was rebranded as the Manitowoc Speedcrane in April 1931.
