LeTourneau-Westinghouse Company (1953-c. 1965) | Historical Construction Equipment Association

Name: LeTourneau-Westinghouse Company (1953-c. 1965)

Historical Note: LeTourneau-Westinghouse Company was created on May 1, 1953, when Westinghouse Air Brake Company (Collection 555) acquired the construction product lines of R. G. LeTourneau, Inc. (Collection 460). Also acquired J. D. Adams & Company (Collection 29) in 1954, and continued the Adams trade name for its recognition value through circa 1960. In the early 1960s, the WABCO name, an acronym for Westinghouse Air Brake Company, was introduced, and the L-W name was phased out by the mid 1960s. Collection 555 continues records and history for this collection after the L-W name was discontinued.
